The Harvey Picker Horizon Scholarship Program

Kids’ Chance of America (KCOA) is pleased to partner with the Maine Employers’ Mutual Insurance Company (MEMIC) to administer the Harvey Picker Horizon Scholarship Program.

Named in honor of Harvey Picker – a distinguished physicist, educator, philanthropist and advocate for education – this scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior whose educational path has been impacted by a parent’s serious or fatal workplace injury. The 2026 awardee will receive $5,000 per year for a maximum of four years. One awardee will be selected per year.

Selection Process

Scholarship applications will be accepted through Kids’ Chance organizations in states where The MEMIC Group has a presence.

Nominations may be submitted here.

The nomination period for this scholarship will begin on March 2, 2026 and close on May 15, 2026 (11:59 PM ET). The 2026 awardee will be announced at The MEMIC Group's Annual Meeting of the Policyholders scheduled for June 9, 2026.
