Kids’ Chance States Have a Banner Year

The 2024 Annual Meeting surfaces successes across the country.

Kids’ Chance has a presence in all 50 states. Some of our organizations have been around for a long time. Others are only a few years old. But one thing is for certain — they all have their own flair.

The Kids’ Chance Annual Meeting provides a forum for each of our states to share highlights from the past year. Hearing from them is a high point for our national community.

Some states, like Kids’ Chance of CT (KCCT) pushed through challenges this year. They had to postpone their 2023 Annual Golf Outing multiple times and went into the event with low expectations. Yet, the golfers who registered but could not play preferred to keep their donations in place. Far from being a disappointment, the 2023 event raised about $17,000 more than the same event in previous years.

Kids’ Chance of NJ (KCNJ) also held their most successful bowling event ever — selling out in less than 72 hours — while Kids’ Chance of OK (KCOK)’s fall events created such demand in their community that they expanded their calendar to include a summer event.

KCOK noted that events aren’t only about raising money; they also increase public awareness which leads to greater support. Kids’ Chance of OR (KCOR) felt much the same way. Their flagship fundraising event experienced record-breaking attendance, attracting many new faces looking to make an impact.

Kids’ Chance of MD (KCMD) introduced three new events to engage a new audience of supporters and sold out every one.

These events provide an opportunity to share the Kids’ Chance story. We know from experience that our kids are the ones who do it best. That’s why Kids’ Chance of GA (KCGA) ran a recipient video contest and was excited that it was such a success.

All of these efforts drive toward one thing: our ability to award scholarships. Among other states experiencing growth in this area, Kids’ Chance of MA (KCMA) went from awarding their first scholarship in 2020 to awarding seven scholarships in 2023.

And Kids’ Chance of PA (KCPA) focused on the “support” aspect of our mission. They’re exploring creating an internship listing as well as a mentoring program that matches recipients to Kids’ Chance volunteers based on their future career aspirations.

We’re proud of all our states and grateful for the work that they do every day to award scholarships to eligible applicants across the country.
