Kids’ Chance Awareness Week is one of the most important times of the year for our community. It’s a time when our supporters unite behind our mission: to provide scholarships to children of workers who have been injured on the job.

This year, Kids’ Chance of America (KCOA) focused on a social media campaign to raise national awareness for our mission, and funds to support it. During Awareness Week 2022, KCOA raised $60,000 — all thanks to our supportive community. There were also four new submissions to our Planning for the Future initiative.

“Awareness Week is a tremendous opportunity for the community supporting Kids’ Chance both at the state and national level to come together to celebrate our mission,” KCOA President Dana Genheimer said. “Thank you to all who participated this year in building awareness for #MoreMoneyforMoreKids!”

Our state organizations were actively engaging their communities during the week as well. Ten states received a formal governor’s proclamation while others fed their social media channels with student stories, held fundraising events, sent care packages to students, and raised awareness with their partners and supporters.

Here are some highlights from across the country:

“Awareness Week is a celebration of Kids’ Chance and it allows us to highlight the depth, breadth, and strength of our community,” KCOA Executive Director Vicki Burkhart said. “We are making an impact in the lives of kids and their families when they need it the most and we couldn’t do it without our amazing leaders, partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates. Thank you to all who participated in making this year’s Awareness Week a great success!”
