Every year at the Kids’ Chance National Conference, our founder, Bob Clyatt, tells his story. He shares how he came to form the first Kids’ Chance in Georgia and what he sees as the future of the Kids’ Chance mission. His vision has always been to have a Kids’ Chance organization in every state.
It is my distinct privilege to say that we’ve achieved this dream. With the forming of Kids’ Chance of Wyoming, we have a presence in all 50 states.
Now we look forward to our next chapter. It’s not enough to have a presence in each state; we need to ensure each and every state can consistently fulfill its mission and ultimately reach every eligible kid.
In 2022, we reached our biggest goal: a Kids’ Chance presence in all 50 states. This landmark achievement has been years in the making with tenacious commitment at the state and national levels
Kids’ Chance state organizations provide scholarships and support to the kids of workers who have been injured on the job.
Despite the impact of the pandemic during this time period, the Kids’ Chance scholarship program maintained its performance nationally.
Collectively since 1988, Kids’ Chance organizations have awarded over 9,300 scholarships totaling over $33.2 million dollars.
The Planning for the Future initiative reached 958 submissions this year. We experienced an overall 10.6% increase in submissions and a 25.8% increase in the number of submissions of kids under 16 years old.
Our Planning for the Future initiative identifies potential scholarship applicants, especially those not yet old enough to think about higher education.
Submit an Eligible KidIn total, we allocated $345,000 in direct scholarship support to the states, with 46 state organizations in good standing, each receiving $7,500 in conjunction with our annual meeting in April.
In addition, over $350,000 was spent in direct support of our state organizations, including professional counsel in scholarship practices and non-profit best practices, the national conference, the scholarship platform Kaleidoscope, Planning for the Future, our educational programs such as webinars and roundtables, marketing collateral, our awareness week activities, scholarship development, our state accelerator program, and emergency grants.
Kids’ Chance of America exceeded all fundraising expectations this year and hit another significant landmark: we reached over $1 million dollars in operating revenue.
Looking forward to the sustainability of our national community, we need this level of investment to meet our mission effectively. Thank you to everyone who chose to invest in us — and ultimately in our kids.
